The Bagdogra police on Friday launched a search operation in the Bhujiayapani area of south Bagdogra and arrested two suspected poachers with an elephant tusk. The 17cm long ivory was recovered from Masuk Sen and Mithun Sarkar, residents of Bhujiyapani.

Police sources informed the duo had plans to sell the tusk in the area and they are being interrogated to find out whether more people are involved in the illegal trade, including international poaching syndicates.
