MOMBASA CID boss Ndumba Thangalani has been summoned in court to explain the whereabouts of a suspected ivory peddler who is at large.
State prosecutor Lydiah Kagori on Thursday asked the court to summon Thangalani to explain why he has not published photos of Feisal Mohammed.
Mohamed has not appeared in court since June 11 to answer to charges of being in possession of 314 pieces of elephant tusk worth Sh44 million.
The consignment was seized on June 5 at Tudor in Mombasa county.
Four of Mohamed’s alleged accomplices have been arraigned in court and charged.
Ghalib Kara, Abdul Omar, Praverz Mohamed and Abdulmajeed Ibrahim denied the charges and were released on Sh10 million bond.
Chief magistrate Stephen Riechi granted the state’s request by issuing summons to the DCIO for August 15.
