Yuka Gliday Luvonga
HECx Project & Research Assistant, Tsavo
Yuka Gliday Luvonga is a passionate and dedicated biotechnologist with a strong interest in conservation and climate activism. His expertise lies in bioinformatics tools and data analysis, particularly in nutrigenomics and proteomics. Yuka holds a Dual Master of Science (Hons) in Biotechnology and Zoology from Punjabi University and Guru Nanak Dev University, both in India. His previous research focused on nutrigenomics, specifically carotenoid bioaccessibility in citrus extracts, as well as parasitology and nematology.
Before joining Save the Elephants (STE) as an intern in April 2024, Yuka gained valuable experience in various research projects. He analyzed genomic data for cancer risk variants, explored bioengineered solutions for gastrointestinal regeneration, and investigated the potential of AI in optimizing food production.
Yuka brings a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to the Coexistence Project team at STE Tsavo. In his current role, he contributes to developing and implementing the HECx Toolbox, supports community engagement initiatives like conservation agriculture, and Conservative Education and collaborates with researchers to identify gaps and develop future research opportunities. His dedication to research and passion for conservation and climate make him a valuable asset to the team.
