On The 25th of February 2011, poachers who shot an adult male elephant, made away with both of her tusks, leaving the elephant wounded. Unfortunately, the elephant succumbed to the gun shot wounds.

The locals living in that area had heard the gunshots at around 7pm and there have been reports of the 3 bullets that were used to kill the elephants.

The following morning some members from the community visited the scene, where they had last heard the bullets and found poached elephants. They immediately notified the KWS team.

The middle-aged bull was killed in very thick bushes near Capture area (Acacia dominates the woody vegetation there). A Joint Para-military visited the scene and confirmed the report and investigations are now underway.
