A 25-year-old female elephant was found dead in Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve forest area near here.
According to forest officials the villagers of Earimoolai forest settlement area had noticed the female elephant lying dead yesterday and informed the forest personnel who rushed to spot with a veterinary doctor.
The doctor who examined it said it had died of some illness and no foul play was suspected.
Later, the elephant was buried in the same area.
