A herd of six elephants, including four tuskers, entered Tumakuru district on Monday night from Savanadurga forest in Magadi taluk in Ramanagara district.
The elephants were spotted in Kithaganahalli in Tumakuru taluk on Tuesday morning.
Assistant Conservator of Forests, B.Devaraj told The Hindu, “Three teams of officers and forest guards have been formed to drive the elephants back to the forest”.
He said the three teams, comprising 18 forest personnel, will start the driving operation on Tuesday evening by bursting crackers.
He has made an appeal to the people of nearby villages of Kithaganahalli to not come out of their houses after 5.00 p.m.
