After two elephants of a herd were electrocuted in Dalijoda forest on their way to collect food in the wee hours on Sunday last, other 20 jumbos unleashed a reign of terror by destroying nearby crop fields in last two days. 

Panic-struck peasants of Gurudijhatia informed the Forest Department about their plight and sought immediate help. Meanwhile, the Forest officials are trying to chase away the elephants to the nearby jungle though it is now a tough job as the jumbos have been vengeful after the death of their companions.

As the forest areas area is short of sufficient water and fodder, the pachyderms are sneaking into human habitations to collect their food and water. There is a veritable man-animal conflict as the peasants are trying their best to save their crops, while the elephants are dead set on getting their food at any cost.
