Jumbo tramples Sundargarh youth to death (Bhubaneswar, India)

In another incident of man-elephant conflict, a youth was trampled to death under Odisha’s Sundargarh district on Saturday morning.

According to information, the incident has occurred in Jharmunda village on Rourkela outskirts in the district. The deceased was identified as Dagara Nayak of Jharmunda village.

Dagara had gone to attend call of nature when a pachyderm attacked him and trampled him to death. Villagers informed police and forest officials. The officials have started conducting investigations into the matter.

“After post-mortem, the reason behind death will be ascertained. If the youth is found to be killed by an elephant, then his family would be given compensation as per law,” said a senior forest official.
