In yet another such incident, an elephant herd entered human habitations and wreaking havoc in Kalahandi district late on Thursday monring.
According to information, a herd of 12 to 15 pachyderms entered the Nagauda village in search of food and destroyed houses of at least six tribal families. Members of all the six families have now been sheltered at Jamaguda High School.
Meanwhile, forest officials have driven away elephants to the forest, sources said.
The affected families, whose houses have been destroyed by jumbos, would be compensated after an inquire as per State Government guidelines, said a forest officer.
