Border guards in Kon Tum Province on Sunday caught a local man transporting nearly 15 kg of ivory, apparently to a buyer.
A Chap, 30, had brought the ivory from Laos to his house in Ta Ka Commune and was “preparing to sell” it, Senior Lieutenant Hoang Dang Bao, commander of Bo Y border station, said.
Those who engage in illegal transport and trade of ivory will be fined and may also face prosecution under Vietnamese laws.
