Monitoring elephants along Mt. Kenya Corridor

In November 2010, the Mt. Kenya Elephant corridor by sponsored largely by Virgin Atlantic was commissioned. The elephant corridor seeks to provide an alternative natural passage for the jumbos in the Ewaso ecosystem, away from their historical route.

The million dollar corridor project comprises of an elephant proof funnelling elephants into an under pass across Nanyuki Isiolo highway. While the Mount Kenya Trust is erecting a fence and building an underpass, Save the Elephants is keen on monitoring elephant movement along the corridor area via satellite and GSM technology
