Three Angolan men abandoned four elephant tusks when undercover police officers closed in to arrest them at Rundu on Thursday.
The police were tipped off about the suspects’ intentions to sell the tusks.
A fourth man, a Namibian aged 51 was arrested when he tried to sell four elephant tusks to undercover police officers at Chotto location, Katima Mulilo, on Friday.
He is expected to appear in court today.
Meanwhile, two Chinese, Xinxi Xue (47) and Ruhe Zhang (60), were arrested for possessing ivory products and a seal skin hidden in coffee tins at the Kappsfarm roadblock on Wednesday.
The two appeared in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court on Friday and were remanded in custody.
They are facing charges of contravening sections of the Controlled Wildlife Products and Trade Act and the Prevention of Organised Crime Act.
The two suspects only produced a Nakara tax invoice for the seal skin.
The duo is scheduled to appear in court again on 24 February 2017.
Their legal representative, Uno Katjipuka, said they will be bringing an urgent application for bail as soon as possible.
Katjipuka asked for conditional bail of N$10 000 for each, with the two accused surrendering their travel documents with immediate effect.
Another Chinese national (38) was arrested with more than US$33 500 hidden in boxes of biscuits at the same roadblock on Friday.
According to police, the suspect allegedly tried to bribe a police officer with N$4 200.
The suspect will be charged with bribery and money laundering, and is being detained at the Hosea Kutako International Airport.
