Today we went out at 6am to track down an enormous Tusked Bull that we had discovered the previous day. He was a very distinct male with extraordinarily impressive tusks. The bull was unfamiliar to the STE. Upon closer inspection it was clear he was having trouble walking and was in a great deal of pain. We called the vets and met them out in the field so we could dart him and have a closer inspection of his injury. We found the magnificent bull at 6:30am and met the vets at 7:30am. The whole operation was a great success. It was confirmed that the bull had in fact received a bullet to its lower right foot and it was badly infected. It can be assumed that he came to the reserve as he knew it to be a safe place for him to heal.

The STE team also took the opportunity of collaring the magnificent male, as he was unknown to the team and it would be very interesting to track his movements. The bull handled the experience very well, and once he had received the antidote he was up on his feet in no time running off into the distance, though not without having a good feel of his brand new collar. The expedition was a real success for all parties involved, the bull receiving vital medical attention and the team identify and now being able to track this new acquaintance. With this new surveillance the collar offers of the bull it allows the team a greater chance in protecting such beautiful bulls such as him.
