Role: Volunteer Video Editor

Are you passionate about storytelling, video editing, and creating content people can’t stop watching? STE is partnering with YouTube sensation and Science Communicator Lindsay Nikole to look for four creative volunteer video editors to help us create engaging long-form content for our YouTube channel. This is your chance to use your skills to support elephant conservation while gaining real-world experience and building your portfolio by creating videos that educate, entertain, and are optimized for monetization, audience retention, and growth. Lindsay will be joining us on the project, helping us with storytelling and advice on the final edit.

What You’ll Do

  • Transform raw footage into compelling stories through pacing, visuals, subtitles, and sound design.
  • Edit long-form content (8–30 mins) into polished, engaging YouTube-ready videos.
  • Edit YouTube shorts, directing people to longer-form videos on YouTube
  • Apply YouTube best practices for monetization and audience retention (hooks, pacing, visual breaks, chaptering, etc.).
  • Design eye-catching thumbnails for each video to boost clicks and watch time.
  • Join regular check-ins (Mon, Tue, or Fri, EAT) to keep timelines on track.
  • Support additional video editing needs as required.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in video editing and storytelling (conservation/science focus a plus).
  • Proficiency with video editing software (Premiere Pro, Final Cut, DaVinci Resolve, or similar).
  • Access to your own laptop/computer capable of handling video editing.
  • Creativity, attention to detail, and a sense of fun.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and collaborate effectively.
  • Bonus: Prior YouTube editing experience and a passion for elephants!

What You’ll Get

  • Bragging rights! You’ll get to say you’ve partnered with Lindsay Nikole and edited content for Save the Elephants while building a strong portfolio of long-form YouTube videos.
  • Recognition on STE’s YouTube (we credit our editors!).
  • The satisfaction of helping protect the world’s largest land mammal through your creativity.
  • A collaborative and fun creative team environment.

Important to Note

All volunteers will be required to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) before starting. This is to protect sensitive video material, ensure content isn’t shared before official release, and safeguard STE’s ongoing projects.

How to Apply

Send your CV, video portfolio, references, and a short cover letter explaining why you’d be a great fit to [email protected]. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
