Fully Funded Master of Science (MSc) Scholarships

Call for Applications for a Master of Science (MSc) Scholarship 2026

Save the Elephants’ (STE) mission is to secure a future for elephants and sustain their places’ beauty and ecological integrity; promote man’s delight in their intelligence and the diversity of their world; and develop a tolerant relationship between the two species. 

In support of the career growth of young scholars in the biodiversity and environment field, STE is pleased to offer THREE full scholarships towards a Master of Science degree tenable at Karatina University, Egerton University, or Kenyatta University for courses commencing in the year 2026. 

Eligibility criteria and conditions:

  • A Kenyan national with a first degree in natural sciences (Zoology, Botany, Biology, Environmental Sciences, Wildlife Management or other related disciplines) from a recognized university.
  • A pass mark of first or second-class upper division in the first-degree (A mandatory requirement). 
  • Two years of experience (since graduation) in a busy conservation organization or department (Volunteer work and internships counts).
  • An unconditional MSc offer letter from Karatina University, Kenyatta University or Egerton University secured independently by the student for a full-time in-person study in natural sciences disciplines. 
  • Must be under 35 years of age as of 1st September 2026. 
  • A research concept note (Max 1 page) is desirable but NOT mandatory. 

Scholarship administration and supervision

  • A scientist from Save the Elephants shall be nominated to the student’s supervision university committee.
  • Candidates shall liaise closely with the STE supervisor and the university supervisor to develop a suitable research project.

The full MSc scholarship covers the following:

    • Tuition fees and research costs.
    • A standard computer and any specialized software needed.
    • A monthly living stipend.
  • Basic medical insurance cover from a provider chosen by STE.

To apply for the full MSc scholarship, please submit the following:

  1. A one page cover letter addressed to “The Research Fund Administrator, Save the Elephants”.
  2. Detailed CV with contact details of three referees, one of which must be academic (Maximum 3 pages).
  3. Scans of first-degree certificate and transcripts.
  4. MSc program admission letter from Karatina University, Egerton University or Kenyatta University, or a formal confirmation of eligibility by the respective academic dean (if admission letter is not yet received).

Please do not include any other document unless it’s a research concept.

All documents should be merged in the above order as ONE PDF with the candidate’s name as the “file name” and emailed to [email protected] on or before 11th May 2026.
