A fight between two tuskers claimed the life of one rival in the Kumbuk-wewa paddy fields at Kandakkulama in Eppawala.
The Anuradhapura Wildlife Office said the fight went on for hour’s last afternoon before the attacker butted its rival to death.
He also said the attacker remained near the carcass of its rival until night fell.
Wildlife Officer Asanka Indunil told our news team that the killed elephant was of the age group between 20 to 25 years while the attacker is of the age group between 30 to 35 years.
