Kenya: KWS Deny Ivory Haul

THE Kenya Wildlife Service officials yesterday told Parliament’s Committee on Environment the illegal ivory seized in the Far East did not originate from Kenya.
 
Singapore customs officials on Tuesday confiscated 3.7 tonnes of ivory allegedly from Kenya and valued at Sh760 million.
 
“Poaching has decreased in the past two years. The cargo did not originate from Kenya,” KWS acting Director General Wilson Kiprono said yesterday.
 
He was speaking when the Ministry of Environment, Water and Natural Resources presented its budget estimates to the Parliament yesterday.
