A middle aged man was killed after attacked by an elephant while proceeding for a pilgrimage. The dead has been identified as Haneefa (67) of Palakkad. The incident happened last night on the Kochi-Dhanushkodi national highway at the Munnar-Pooppara route. He came before the elephant while proceeding to churches in Pooppara. The body was found on the national highway. There were signs of the elephant dragging the elephant and trampling him.
Some passengers who saw the body Monday morning informed the police and forest officials. As the face of the man has been damaged, he could not be identified.
