Tuskers from TN enter Karnataka (State of Karnataka, India)

The Forest Department staff is engaged in an operation to drive back the tuskers that have entered Karnataka from the Tamil Nadu forest area.

Three elephants were sighted at Yergol forest area in Bangarpet taluk on Monday evening. As soon as the tuskers were sighted, the forest department staff started operations to drive them back to Tamil Nadu.

The operations were resumed on Tuesday, Bangarpet Range Forest Officer (RFO) Santhoshkumar told The Hindu. The elephants have been driven up to Dinnur, he said and added that no crop damage was reported due to entry of the elephants.

According to Mr. Santhoshkumar, the elephants entered through Krsihnagiri forest area in Tamil Nadu. The tuskers were driven from there as they were wreaking havoc causing crop loss, he said.
