Seven wild elephants destroyed villagers’ rubber and oil palm plantations in Kampung Lalat, Batu Melintang here, on Friday.

A villager Nik Mohd Zamri Abdullah, 41, said he came across a group of elephants when going to his rubber plantation at 9.40am.

“Not only the young rubber trees but also the tapped trees were destroyed,” he told Bernama here today.

He said the pachyderms had also destroyed the electric fence installed by the villagers to protect their farms.

Nik Mohd Zamri hoped the Wildlife and National Parks Department would take immediate action to relocate the elephants.
