Protect the Home of Elephant Conservation

You are rebuilding the heart of elephant protection

Thank you for standing with the team who stand with elephants

Every heavy rain, the Ewaso Nyiro River eats away at the Samburu Research Camp, the birthplace where Dr. Iain Douglas-Hamilton founded Save the Elephants.

With erosion accelerating and memories of the 2010 flood that wiped out our base, our operational base is facing an immediate risk.

To save our home before the rains hit, we are planting deep-rooted trees, elevating core buildings, and constructing reinforced shoreline barriers.

  • $13 could plant a tree to reinforce the river bank
  • $29 could help elevate the camp buildings above the flood line
  • $81 could build one metre of heavy duty river armour

Help us save the camp so our researchers can stay focused on protecting Samburu’s wild elephant population for decades to come.
