Aashman Wason
Research Assistant & Acting ECF Fund Administrator
Aashman’s journey with Save the Elephants began as an intern at the Tsavo Research Centre, followed by a second internship at the Head Office in Nairobi. He later transitioned into his current role as a Research Assistant under the Coexistence Program, where he is working on a global mapping project of beehive fences – an innovative tool for human-elephant coexistence. In addition to mapping their spread, Aashman manages the associated database, metrics, and data visualizations. He is also the Acting Fund Administrator for the Elephant Crisis Fund (ECF), where he supports administrative tasks, social media efforts, and works on data metrics and visualizations for the ECF.
Aashman holds a BA in International Relations from the United States International University – Africa and is a strong advocate of the belief that conservation is a multi-dimensional field, necessitating the involvement of individuals from diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
His multifaceted role and academic background highlight his commitment to advancing coexistence strategies and enhancing the impact of conservation efforts. Aash is dedicated to creating a safe environment for these gentle giants, fostering a harmonious relationship, and promoting sustainable practices that benefit both wildlife and local communities as we learn to coexist.
