Coexistence & Research Assistant

Irene has worked with leading conservation organizations dedicated to wildlife protection and coexistence. She began as a student trainee at the Kenya Wildlife Service, supporting wildlife monitoring activities, and later, in 2023, joined Save the Elephants as an intern. She also contributed to the Tsavo Lions Project in coordinating field data collection and monitoring lion populations in the Tsavo ecosystem.

In 2026, she rejoined Save the Elephants as a Coexistence & Research Assistant, where she coordinates the Tsavo Schools Project and sustainable livelihoods activities, and contributes to the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) wildlife underpasses utilization monitoring.

Irene holds a BSc. in Wildlife Management from Egerton University.
